Ely Rowen Salar is a Certified Red Seal Pastry Chef in Canada. Chef-owner of Patisserie Le Choux-Colat. He is the former Head Pastry Chef of Hotel Arts group. He manages the pastry department who is responsible in creating desserts and pastries for 3 award winning restaurants and catering division of Hotel Arts Group. He was also the former Head Pastry Chef of Kananaskis Mountain Lodge Autograph Collection (formerly Delta Lodge Kananaskis by Marriott), a 4 Diamond resort property in Alberta Canada. Ely Rowen is the co-owner of Chef El Patisserie, a pastry shop based in the Philippines. Chef Ely have won numerous awards and accolades, he was the overall winner of the Pastry Chef Showcase 2018 in Alberta Canada, he won the Best Dessert Category and winner of the Lindt Chocolate Showpiece Competition 2018. He was also the Winner of the Lindt Chocolate Showpiece Competition at the Pastry Chef Showcase 2016, and 2nd Place for the Contemporary Cake Category and won the People’s Choice Award for the Calgary Sugar Craft Cake Competition 2015. In 2018, he was awarded Excellence in Culinary & Pastry Arts by the Filipino Champions of Canada. Ely is a member of SAIT’s Pastry and Baking Arts Program advisory committee a top culinary school in Canada. He is also the Education Board of Director of Philippine Culinary Federation of Canada. Ely takes time to share his passion in Pastry and Culinary Arts through baking classes that he organizes in the Philippines and in Canada. Ely co-founded the Filipino Food Movement YYC, it aims to promote and spread awareness of the Filipino Cuisine in Canada and build a better stage to celebrate and elevate the Filipino food experience. The movement collaborates with Filipino chefs in Calgary to showcase their talents and dishes through pop-up events in local restaurants. His most recent event at Oxbow was called BalikKultura, which is Tagalog for going back to your roots.
